“Our telehealth therapists are available to serve you wherever you are within Washington State. Attend your therapy sessions from the comfort of your home or office.”

At Emmaus we understand with busy schedules, allocating time for self-care can be challenging. This is where online counseling can be beneficial. We ensure that mental health support is accessible and convenient, allowing you to prioritize your well-being without the inconvenience of commuting.

Our providers offer telehealth services to clients who are physically located in and reside in Washington state at the time of the session. Therapists must comply with their licensure and liability insurance requirements, which allow them to hold sessions only with clients physically located in the state where they are licensed at the time of the session.

Virtual sessions work the same way face-to-face therapy sessions but are conducted via our EMR HIPAA compliant secure client portal/platform using an integrated telehealth program.

You will need a computer, smartphone, or iPad/tablet equipped with a camera, microphone, and speakers to attend your telehealth appointment. Use Chrome as your browser and disable any pop-up blockers so the telehealth session opens.

Steps:

  • Clients must be logged into their portal to join the session.
  • You will be directed to “Join Telehealth Waiting Room” which opens 15 minutes prior to the start of your session. When your session begins, your provider will invite you from the waiting room to join and begin the session.

Many healthcare plans cover telehealth similarly to in-office therapy. However, insurance company policies are changing, and many benefits are specific to individual plans. It is recommended that you verify with your carrier to ensure coverage for virtual behavioral health therapy.

All our therapists have completed the required Washington State Mandated Telehealth Training and are fully trained in HIPAA protocols. Emmaus therapists adhere to strict confidentiality standards, and all sessions are held in real time and cannot be recorded in our EMR program.

For virtual clients, we recognize that finding a private space at home or in the office for your session can sometimes be challenging. We suggest using headphones, taking a walk, or sitting in your car—anywhere you feel is private and safe.
