Emmaus’ therapists work with their clients using traditional psychotherapy (face to face talk therapy).  The approaches they use in your psychotherapy sessions may vary depending upon the issues to be resolved and your needs. Our counseling approach, then, may include, but is not limited to the following:

*  Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
*  Art Therapy
*  Behavioral Therapy
*  Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
*  Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
*  Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
*  Family Systems Therapy
*  Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy
*  Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
*  Rational-Emotive Therapy (RET)

If you have questions about our any of our therapeutic approaches, please ask us.

We do not promise any particular outcome of treatment. However, we do promise to use our best efforts and to perform all of our services for you in a professionally competent manner. The length of treatment hinges on such factors as the severity and duration of the problem as well as the motivation and cooperation of the client. Sometimes, we use vocational and/or personality tests to facilitate the counseling process.

You may also want us to outline a proposed course of treatment. If this is important to you, let us know. In general, however, we find that it is not always helpful to try to figure out in advance where we are headed, since therapy by its very nature is a process of new discoveries.
